First retrofit installation of Coldharbour Marine Inert Gas BWTS

Viktor Lenac Shipyard has successfully completed the retrofit installation of Coldharbour Marine Inert Gas Ballast Water Treatment System onboard "Bordeira". This was the first complete installation of an Inert Gas-based system onboard a vessel. The system will be tested and inspected by USCG in order to apply for type approved certificate.

Works included installation of 7,000m of el. cables, 2,500 pipe supports in ballast tanks and main deck, 3,400m of pneumatic pipes, 18,000kg of steel for deckhouse, 600m of steel pipes, provided assistance to Seatec during installation of GRE (2400m), MDPE (1400m) pipes, installation of various BWTS equipment, control panels, outfitting the deckhouse with insulation and light steel works, and providing assistance to maker representative. The Shipyard also provided assistance to shipowner and system maker during development of the project and used its wide ship repair knowledge and best shipbuilding practice to solve any issues that have arisen during project.
The Owner of the vessel, TMS-Tankers plans additional BWTS retrofit installation of this type in 2019 after they finish testing and fine-tuning of the system, and receive US Coast Guard Type approval.
